Calamity Royale has played everywhere from curling rinks to cruise ships. It is said that if she were a cocktail she would be a shot of Tom Waits and a splash of Doris Day. On occasion she will play with a rotating cast of musicians called Her Minions. Instrumentation includes cello, bass, mini tuba, trombone, violin, accordion, synthesizer and various lovely backing vocalists. She writes songs on wurlitzer, guitar and snakeskin banjo - is influenced by such things as spiders, Noel Coward, hypochondria and Barrie, Ontario. Recently she has performed at The Festival on Bloor, Toronto City Roots & Winterfolk. |
